Steps for Massage Treatment

These are required by the Ministry of Health and the CMTO.  If not done, your appointment will be cancelled.  No cancellation fee.

Policies and Procedures

Now that we are in the second wave of Covid-19 in our community, my main priority continues to be everyone’s safety.  Hopefully, this guide will help you understand and feel safe with the steps I am taking.  There are many details in this document.  I thank you in advance for reading through this.  These policies and procedures will be changing as time goes on, and if you have any questions contact me.

Currently, treatments are being given to high priority clients.  Please contact me to hear those details.  30, 45, 60 and 75 minute appointments are available.  The cleaning, screening, and administrative duties at this time will be greater, so availability will decrease.

Before booking your massage.

The Ministry of Health and the CMTO (my governing body) have asked that I complete many steps before your massage. Please complete these, and I will book your massage.

  1. Complete this risk consent form and return it to me.
  2. Please complete the COVID-19 self assessment test and report back.
  3. Read these policies and procedures.
  4. Contact me to book your appointment.

One day before appointment

Please call me the day before your appointment at 613.866.3014 between the hours of 9am – 7pm to do the pre-screening.  If this is not completed, your appointment will be cancelled, with no cancellation fee.

During this 5-10 min call, I will go through a few details with you and go through the screening questions. We will discuss what your massage needs will be. I will provide options for payment. These include an e-transfer, direct billing to your insurance provider, you can tap your debit or credit here or Square invoice sent via text or email. The invoice can be done with Visa, Mastercard, Amex or Discover on your computer or phone. Please let me know if you would prefer a paper or email receipt.

On the day of the treatment

Bring and wear a mask.  If you do not have one, I have extras.

  • Please arrive alone, and feel free to arrive up to 15 min early.
  • Please wait outside or in your car until I am ready to begin your treatment.
  • Pre-treatment, if you have any symptoms, there is no cancellation fee.  No show fee is the cost of the treatment.
  • During the time that the extra supplies are needed, each massage will have an extra $5.00 fee.
  • My family will not be using the ground floor before, during and after the massage treatment.


I will be prescreening myself before every shift to ensure I am healthy and not exhibiting any symptoms of COVID-19.

You will need to bring a disposable or reusable mask, which you will be asked to wear for the duration of the treatment. If you do not have a mask, I can provide a disposable one for you. If you have a health condition that makes wearing a mask difficult, I will assess the risks of providing a treatment. If you have any concerns about wearing a mask, please contact me in advance. I will be wearing a mask and additional PPE which will be discussed in a section below.

Please call or text once you arrive outside my home clinic. If you are unable to do that, please let me know beforehand. Please put on your mask at this time.

Please remove your shoes as you enter. The floor will be cleaned between clients. If you like, you could bring a clean pair of socks to put on post-treatment.

Once inside my home clinic, please use hand sanitizer. You will see signage outlining proper hand washing procedures. I wash my hands before and after each treatment and after disinfecting the space.

I will be taking your temperature with a contactless thermometer after you have entered the clinic and before your massage. I will refuse treatment if you answer yes to any of the prescreening questions or have a temperature. If you have pre-paid, a full refund will be given.

You will be asked to provide your name and phone number for a log to be used for potential future contact tracing. You may choose to refuse to provide this information.

Please physically distance 2m (6ft) before and after your massage.

You will see signage at the entrance that outline the signs and symptoms of COVID-19, what to do if one is at risk, and how to limit transmission, including signage reiterating the requirement to wear a mask and wash your hands before proceeding.

During Treatment​​

While the treatment will remain as normal as possible, there will be a few changes. You will be asked to wear your mask during the treatment. We can discuss positioning on the table for your comfort. You might choose to do less time with your face in the cradle or try side lying. Because COVID is spread by contact and droplets being in a supine (face up) position poses a higher risk of transmission. I will have an extra face shield if you would like to use it and be face up. It will be cleaned and disinfected between clients.

I will also be wearing a mask at all times. Plus, I have decided to take the extra precaution of wearing a face shield to further reduce the risk of transmission ensuring both of our safety. I will be wearing a bandana over my hair and a lab coat over my clothes. These will be washed between clients.

Due to the PPE we will be wearing, we are going to reduce the discussion during the treatment except for necessary conversation related to the treatment.

The heating pad will not be used.


Please leave your mask on until after you exit my home. Use the hand sanitizer.

After leaving the massage room, please maintain 2 metre (6 feet) distance.

After the appointment, I will wash my hands with soap and water. Same for before and after disinfecting. I will then clean and disinfect anything used during the appointment.

If requested, a paper receipt will be on the reception table.

After your massage, I will email you to check in.

What happens between clients?

There are a lot of things that I will be doing behind the scenes to keep you safe. The cleaning and disinfecting has increased.

I will be following the precautions for laundry from CMTO. There is no blanket but I will place an extra folded sheet for your comfort.

Cleaning and disinfecting high touch surfaces (e.g. light switches, door knobs, counter tops, etc.) is required at least twice a day.

Disinfecting of the treatment room and all of its equipment will happen between clients. This includes but is not limited to the massage table, stool, oil bottle and face cradle. Any face cradle cover is changed after each patient.

I am using the “Wipe Twice Method”. Step 1 – Clean Step 2 – Disinfect. The cleaning products meet all requirements provided by the College of Massage Therapists of Ontario for disinfecting environmental surfaces under the “Infection Control for Regulated Professionals Federation Guide” and Health Canada’s Covid-19 disinfectant list.

Although the treatment environment and the procedures you are expected to follow might be a little different, what remains the same is my commitment to the health and safety of my clients. During this unprecedented time, I am working hard to ensure I can provide you with the health care you need as safely as possible.
